Six players scored in double figures, including rookie Yoo Yoo-sang (18 points). They also hit 16 three-pointers and shot 57% from beyond the arc. After opening the season with three straight losses, LG has rattled off five straight wins to jump to second place in the standings.

LG took down KCC, one of the favorites to win the title this season, with its cool perimeter shooting. After stifling their opponents with a strong defense, the team scored with a quick attack. The team was able to get to the basket with ease, and they exploded from the outside.

The spearhead of the winning streak was none other than Yoo Yoo-sang (188 cm, G). Yoo joined LG with the 3rd overall pick in the 2023 KBL Rookie Draft. He formed a BIG 3 with Moon Jung-hyun (Suwon KT) and Park Mubin (Ulsan Hyundai Mobis) and took his talents to Changwon.

Yoo was the perfect card for LG, which has been thirsty for an authentic shooter for a while now, and in this game, he proved why they selected him.

Stepping onto the court in the second quarter, Yoo backed up his brothers with two three-pointers. After warming up, his fingertips heated up at the start of the second half. At the start of the third quarter, he quickly scored nine points with three three-pointers.

After finishing the first half with a comfortable lead (52-32), LG extended the gap to 61-34 with the help of the baby peregrine and virtually put the game out of reach. When the youngest started a three-point barrage, the entire team was energized.

Soon after, Lee Jae-do (180 cm, G) and Jung Hee-jae (195 cm, F) also combined for four three-pointers, raising the decibel level in the gym.

After hitting six three-pointers in the first half, LG poured in 35 points in the third quarter alone as Yoo Yoo-sang, Jung Hee-jae, and Lee Jae-do combined for eight three-pointers. The third quarter score was 87-54. By the end of the third quarter, LG had already surpassed its team average (82.3 points).

LG’s perimeter guns were on fire early in the fourth quarter. Dante Cunningham (203 cm, C) hit his first three-pointer since joining the KBL, and soon after, Yang Hong-seok (195 cm, F) added one.

The three-point show continued in the final quarter, and LG ran out the clock to extend its winning streak.

After the game, head coach Cho Sang-hyun praised rookie Yoo Yoo-sang for setting the stage for the victory. He said, “I was planning to stop (Heo) Ung and (Lee) Geun-hwi on defense, but the unexpected three (three-pointers) in the third quarter played a big role in the run. I think we need to make more of them so that we can grow in the future,” he said, giving Yoo a thumbs-up for his crucial contribution to the team’s victory.
