Lee Jung-hoo of Boras, a player who will bring K-pop to MLB.”

Agent Scott Boras had this to say about Lee, who is on the verge of a major league posting.

During a visit to the Major League Baseball general managers’ meeting at a resort in Scottsdale, Arizona, on Sept. 9 (KST), Boras spoke about Lee Jeong-hoo, who is on the verge of breaking into the big leagues via posting.

“Already, roughly half the league has inquired about him,” he said, noting that interest in Lee is high.굿모닝토토 도메인

“We got Yoshida earlier, but he’s got a high level of hitting skills,” he said, comparing Lee to another of his clients, Masataka Yoshida (Boston), who reached the big leagues a year earlier.

“There’s a premium here,” he said, “that he can play center field defense. He can play defense. There’s also power here,” he said of the differences between him and Yoshida.

Boras, who is usually known for his witty remarks to promote his clients, also spoke highly of Lee, saying he is “the guy who will bring K-pop to MLB.”

Lee Jung-hoo is a star in the Korean Professional Baseball League. He has a career batting average of .340 with a .407 on-base percentage and .491 slugging percentage.

Local media are also listing him in their free agent rankings. While some are cautious, saying that “evaluations are mixed,” others are positive, saying that “he’s one of the top beasts on the market, second only to Cody Bellinger in the middle infield”.

Meanwhile, the posting schedule is expected to take some time.

When asked what’s next for Lee, Boras said, “He’s on a 30-day contract. He’ll come to the U.S. and train for three weeks at our training facility, and then we’ll have an open workout for teams that want to watch him. Then we’ll start posting,” he said of the upcoming schedule.
