Daegu FC’s ‘First Commander’ Jonghwan Park passes away

Jong-hwan Park, the first head coach of Daegu FC, who led the national team to its first four finals at the 1983 World Youth Football Championship in Mexico, passed away on July 7.

After leading the youth national team to the quarterfinals in 1983, where he first earned the nickname “Red Devil,” Jong-hwan became the founding head coach of the K-League’s Ilhwa Cheonma, where he led the team to three consecutive championships.

After a brief stint in China following his return to national team coaching, Park returned to the K League as the first head coach of Daegu FC, which was founded in 2002.

Park took charge of the team from its inaugural season on October 9, 2002, and was at the helm from the first game of the historic Daegu FC season.

After a lowly 11th place finish in his first season in 2003, Daegu FC moved up one spot to 10th in the final standings the following year, and in the 2005 season, Park led the team to its first single-digit finish with an 8th place finish in the regular season and a 7th place finish in the cup competition.카지노사이트
