Hanwha’s Moon Dong-ju (19), who was resting before joining the Korean National Team for the Hangzhou Asian Games, has passed his practice check.
In an exhibition game at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul, South Korea, Moon made a start for the Commerce team and shut down the national team’s bats in three innings of two-hit ball with five strikeouts.
Moon, who was thrust into the starting lineup as a result of some of the players moving up in the lineup, pitched well against the senior national team hitters.
The national team batting lineup consisted of Kim Hye-sung (second base), Choi Ji-hoon (center field), Noh Si-hwan (third base), Kang Baek-ho (designated hitter), Moon Bo-kyung (first base), Kim Hyung-joon (catcher), Park Sung-han (shortstop), Choi Won-jun (right field), and Kim Sung-yoon (left field).
After striking out Kim Hye-sung and Choi Ji-hoon in the first inning, Moon faced teammate Noh Si-hwan. Noh leads the league with 31 home runs this season. However, Moon showed off his command by striking him out.
In the second inning, Moon gave up a single to Moon Bo-kyung, but struck out Kim Hyung-joon and Park Sung-hwan to end the inning without allowing a run.
In the third, he gave up a leadoff double to left-center field to Choi Won-jun, but he struck out Kim Sung-yoon and retired Kim Hye-sung and Choi Ji-hoon to end the inning.
Moon is 8-8 with a 3.72 ERA in 23 games this season. He was released from the first team on May 5 to join the Asian Games squad. He has been working out at the second-level Seosan Stadium and has emerged as a candidate to start the all-important game against Taiwan.토토사이트
“I honestly thought I shouldn’t be pitching when I was well rested, but the club took care of me, so I was able to focus a little more,” Moon said after the game.
“I was more focused because I was pitching against the national team,” said Moon, who was satisfied that “it was my first game with the new ball, but it went well.”
He called himself “lucky” for striking out Noh Si-hwan, saying, “If I had hit him, he would have been a joke this year, but he was more focused against his brother.”
“I don’t know who will start against Taiwan, but I need to be well prepared for every game. It’s a short game, so I don’t know what will happen. I’ll think about every eventuality and prepare.”
